Matthew

The eye of the storm has passed and we have been spared. We still are experiencing wind gust and intermittent heavy rain. It will take a few days before traveling can resume. We have not heard of any serious problems in our area. Thank you all for your prayers. Please continue to pray for those in the south that took a direct hit. And for those that are in the path of Matthew. Bob

Matthew

The winds never grew strong last night. This morning is calm, a gentle rain is falling. To those who do not know, it is welcome. My data signal is too weak to allow me to check on Matthew\’s progress. But I see on FB that the eye of the storm has not yet made landfall. We sit and wait…. it is still possible. Pray Bob

Hurricane Matthew

I am sitting here in the relatively safety of our apartment. Concrete walls and roof. Our neighbors all live in little more than one room. Most do have a tin roof, but many have thatch. Some have woven stick walls plastered with mud. Many with woven palm leaves for walls. Almost all built on from a slope to a steep mountain side. Some in the flood plain. The forecast is for up to an unimaginable 40 inches of rain. God save us. Please Pray. The wind is picking up. As long as the cell service works and I can get

Golden years

I always thought this time of my life would be slower, and more peaceful than my younger years of raising my family. Wrong! This summer has flown by. We have had company continuously. They delivered more Days for Girls sanitary kits for the shipping container and then stayed and helped with the shipping container. We then hosted Elwood and Anita Martin. They are American missionaries serving in our area of Haiti. They were

Human Trafficking

July 18, 2016 Time sure has flown by. Life in the U.S. moves so fast, island time is so much slower. It is an adjustment for us each time we come home. This time we came home with no means to support ourselves, but God provided us with work. First Bob worked for the Parish Twinning Program’s sea container program and I helped as a volunteer. We packed things for our twin parish with the help of friends from Michigan and the Dowelltown Methodist church. Then, just as we finished the shipping container, Bob was hired to work at CMI,

Salvatorian Assembly 2016

Denise and I are completing a wonderful week at the 2016 Salvatorian National Assembly. The most powerful tidbit that I am taking home? Zeal without love is destructive. This year we are celebrating twenty years as lay members of the Salvatorian order. (Society of the Divine Saviour) While here we are sharing the beauty of Haitian art.
