This is the skeleton of our movable toilet. It will be placed over a four foot deep pit. When pit is filled, toilet will be moved to a new pit and the old one will be covered with dirt and a tree planted.

We traveled to Kalabat today. This is following a few days of heavy rain since our last trip. The river washed down lots of inconvenient rocks, some big rocks. Our faithful friends pitching in to clear the way!
Jan 8th, 2016 Traveling to PAP Last Friday we left for Port Au Prince to take Cecile to the airport on Saturday. We also needed to see if our missing suitcase had shown up and to do some shopping. The trip to PAP was uneventful. We arrived just after noon and went to the airport cargo to look for our missing bag, it was not there. We were sent over to the airport to get a paper from the missing baggage desk that we were suppose to fax to American Airlines, we don’t know of any fax machines in Haiti. …

February 4, 2016 Our days have been very full with a variety of activities. With the help of Cecile (a nurse practitioner that traveled with us and donated a month of her time) we have distributed several Days for Girls kits to young ladies at two of our schools. These kits are reusable pads for the girls’ monthly menstruation. The girls presently use cloth and because of the undependability of leakage often miss school during their cycle. A group of women in Michigan are busy producing many of these kits for us. Along with training the girls how to use …

When your kids are complaining about doing chores, like carrying water on their heads, build them something useful. Like a water wheel barrow, No wheel, no problem. Just use an old moto sprocket that\’s laying around. This idea is catching on. Several young boys in our "neighborhood" are know sporting this latest gadget!

Update on Sleepless nights. After the woman, Mariana, rejected our offer to drive her to Port au Prince, she came back to request help, after it was too late in the day to travel. At 4:00 the next morning the family found other transportation to a different hospital located in Mirebalais. This is a very good hospital, but did not have the specialist Mariana needed. Denise and Anita, an American friend and co-worker, had researched where Mariana would be able to get the care she needed. Mariana went to the hospital and died the following morning.
